The Alabama Self-Insurers Association (ASIA) was formed in 1992 by 10 self-insured companies with the goal of helping employers understand the law and any proposed changes, as well as ensuring equitable coverage for the injured employee. Today, ASIA boasts a membership in excess of 400 people.

The Alabama State Bar publication, The Addendum, recently featured an article written by Carr Allison shareholder, Ben Pugh. The article, titled "Who Turned Down the Volume? Chronicles of a Bionic Man," documents Mr. Pugh's recent cochlear implant surgery to restore his hearing loss caused by Autoimmune Inner Ear Disease. Please find his article in full linked below.

Retired Mobile County District Judge and Carr Allison shareholder Judson W. Wells, Sr. attended the annual meeting of the Mobile Arts and Sports Association (MASA) on June 25, 2009 in Mobile. Judge Wells is one of only 45 members of MASA, which is the parent organization of the Senior Bowl. MASA is responsible for the donation of over 7.7 million dollars to charities over the years. Judge Wells' term as a member of MASA runs through June, 2011.Judge Wells is also a longtime active member of the Senior Bowl Committee. The Senior Bowl is the nation's pre-eminent college football all-star game and is played each January in Mobile, where the game has been held since 1952.

2009Ben Barron, an attorney in Carr Allison's Birmingham, Alabama office, was recently inducted into the the Birmingham MS Leadership Class of 2009 after being nominated by an Advisory Council member. The Class partners with the National MS Society in the fight for the cure for MS as well as to raise awareness about the disease. Carr Allison congratulates Mr. Barron for this recognition.
