  • Carr Allison attorney, Ellen C. Pappas, has been appointed to the Florida Association for Women Lawyers' Awards Committee. The organization actively promotes gender equality and leadership roles in the legal profession, judiciary, and community.  The Awards Committee reviews all submissions for the Rosemary Barkett Outstanding Achievement Award, Outstanding Chapter Program Award, Chapter Membership Recruitment Award, Leaders in the Law Award, Friend of FAWL Award for Florida.  Pappas practices in Carr Allison's Tallahassee, Florida office where she actively serves as Secretary of the Tallahassee Women Lawyers.

  • Kathy Davis and Allan Jones have been selected by DRI's Insurance Subcommittee as Regional Editors for DRI's 2010 Bad Faith Compendium Update. Kathy contributed to the original compendium when it was completed in 2006. DRI's goal is to release the 2010 update in November before the New York Insurance Coverage Practice Symposium.
  • Tara W. Lockett, a shareholder in Carr Allison's Daphne, Alabama office, has been appointed to serve on the Board of Bar Examiners for the Alabama State Bar for a four year term beginning July 2010.  The Board of Bar Examiners administers and grades the Alabama essay portion of the academic examination of applicants for the admission to the bar.
  • Carr Allison is proud to announce the success of its 6th Annual Smoke Off BBQ competition to benefit Boys Town North Florida. Almost two dozen teams consisting of local businesses and law firms competed for top prize and bragging rights in the ribs and pork categories in the day long event. Carr Allison underwrote the event. Therefore, all entry fees were donated to Boys Town North Florida, as well as additional donations and all money raised from the sale of t-shirts commemorating the event.

    Children from Boys Town North Florida attended the event, competed, and mingled with participants. The Boys Town citizens learned about secret recipes and methods for BBQ! Carr Allison provided food and entertainment for all.

    We thank all who entered and contributed. The trophies and prizes went to:

    Pork: 1st - Capital City Imports "Gas Grill Gorillas"; 2nd - Sonitrol "Team Red Wire"; 3rd - Stan Barnes, Dewitt Miller, Mark Demont, Scott Brock, William Lamb, Richard Smith, & John Wood " Millstone Grillmasters."

    Ribs: 1st - FSI Trust "The Creamators"; 2nd - Rogers Gunter Vaughn Insurance "Silverback Junior Team"; 3rd - Boys Town North Florida sponsored by Carr Allison.
